Peter Hannis Hernandez
- Broker Associate
- DRE #: 00411943
Peter Hernandez lives his personal and professional passion for helping people become the most successful versions of themselves that they can be.
Originally the founder and co-president of Teles Properties until it was acquired by Douglas Elliman, Hernandez now brings his passion to his role at Elliman as President of the brokerage’s Western Region states: California, Colorado, Nevada, and Texas.
Hernandez is widely regarded in the industry as the driving force behind the renowned Teles brand and its highly collaborative company culture, and was responsible for spearheading comprehensive brokerage management there, from marketing, transaction compliance, litigation, and agent coaching to development.
In addition to serving as co-director of the firm’s Sports and Talent Divisions, he also oversees both the Commercial Division and its Builder and Development Program.
A top agent representing some of the most expensive properties in California, Hernandez began his lifelong real estate career in 1970 working for the family firm Hernandez Realty - the leading agency in Marina Del Rey while completing his degree in economics at UCLA.
Hernandez joined the Jon Douglas Company in 1983, quickly establishing himself as a leading broker, and expanded into management in 1988. Eventually appointed president and COO for Coldwell Banker of Orange County, Hernandez successfully orchestrated three key acquisitions: Dyson and Dyson Company, the Balboa Real Estate Company and Strada Properties.
Known as an industry thought leader, Hernandez has contributed his expertise to a wide range of digital and print media, including the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, Huffington Post, Inman, Toby Salgado Super-Agent, The Real Deal, and Pat Hiban, among others.
Hernandez backs that expertise with more than 45 years of real estate experience not only as a broker and business owner, but also a passionate investor and developer who is able to see opportunity in any market, whether up or down.
If Hernandez isn’t working tirelessly to position Douglas-Elliman to become the number one firm in the Western Region, he can be heard sharing his expert insights and observations on his weekly podcasts.
A longtime resident of Malibu CA and a board director for the Greater Los Angeles Beverly Hills Board of Realtors, Hernandez always finds quality time for his family and his many passions, which include surfing, reading and CrossFit.
